Dr James Wood leads the mathematical modelling group and is senior lecturer at SPHCM UNSW specialising in modelling of infectious diseases. He gained his PhD in 2004 at University of Queensland. He is responsible for developing transmission models that specifically incorporate infection and disease risk factors that relate to the special populations (modelling analysis of maternal infections and comparisons of the effectiveness vaccination options for pertussis) in CRE.  Dr Wood works closely with CI Beutels and his modelling group in Belgium, collaborating with key researchers in the European Union through this link.
